Excellence in Agriculture

My husband Paul and I just has the great honor of attending the American Farm Bureau annual meeting in San Diego, CA. We always feel so honored to attend these great gatherings of wonderful and talented people who are involved in agriculture every day from all over the nation. Paul and I were able to represent our state of MN in a Young Farmer and Rancher competition called Excellence in Agriculture.
The Excellence in Agriculture competition is for young farmers who do not receive a majority of their income from production agriculture, meaning you need to have an off farm job. The competition focuses on the persons involvement in agriculture promotion and involvement. The competition is based on both a paper application and a power point presentation.
Paul and I were impressed with the high calaber of competitors in this competition. It was so exciting to see this influential group of young people working so hard in their communities and states telling the truth and praise of agriculture. We feel so honored to even be included in this group.
The competition went well for us and we felt we gave it our best. We had wonderful guidance from our FB state staff and friends. The kids even helped us practice by listening to our presentation a few times.
Paul and I are very humbled and honored to announce that we earned first prize in the competition. We were awared a new 2015 Chevy/GMC truck! It has been 20 years since the last time a truck has been won by someone in MN and we feel very honored that we were able to bring one home for this great state we live in.

The moment they announced we had won. Let it load for a little while and watch. It was a wonderful moment we will never forget.

We feel so blessed to have had this experience and very excited to take the kids to the dealership to pick out our truck.
